In Pima’s Phlebotomy program you’ll get hands-on training in our brand-new Health Professions Center of Excellence. You’ll learn how to safely draw blood, as well as other lab processing skills, and gain real experience during a clinical rotation.

After you finish the program, you’ll be ready to take the ASCP national PBT certification exam and start working as a phlebotomist, collecting and processing blood and other body fluid samples to help the healthcare team with testing and diagnosis.

Want to go even further? This program can be a great first step toward other healthcare careers, like Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Assisting or Nursing.

Completing our Phlebotomy program prepares you for a career as a medical phlebotomist, where you could work in a variety of healthcare settings, such as:

  • Hospitals and urgent care facilities
  • Medical practices
  • Outpatient clinics
  • Blood product collection centers
  • Reference labs
  • Mobile insurance physicals
  • Research facilities

Degrees & Certificates

At Pima, our programs are designed to help you build your skills as you go. Start with foundational certificates and advance to higher-level certificates and a two-year degree, all while gaining the hands-on experience needed for in-demand careers.

Certificate, Phlebotomy

Our program takes just 18 weeks to finish (that's one semester of classroom hands-on skills, plus two weeks of clinical phlebotomy rotation!). In the classroom, you’ll learn what you need start your phlebotomy clinical rotation. After you complete the program, you’ll have the knowledge and skills to work as a phlebotomist and be ready to take the ASCP PBT national certification exam!

Continue in Medical Lab Tech or Clinical Research

The Phlebotomy Program is stackable into the Medical Laboratory Technician Program, while the course PHB 150IN is a requirement for the Clinical Research Program.
